The convergence of technology and dog’s is certainly an exciting frontier for enthusiasts like myself, We have seen the success of automatic pet feeder and such novelties as attaching a GoPro to a dog, but there are more practical solutions on the horizon. FastCompany recently reported that a Georgia Tech Company FIDO (Facilitating Interactions for Dogs with Occupations) launched a project that harnessed an Arduino and allowed for a dogs movements to initiate signals to their companions. This has prospects for use with guide dogs, sniffer dogs and perhaps even broaden the dog occupation landscape further. While this kind of project is far on the horizon for my current abilities and potential, it has certainly been inspiring and influencing to see potential experiments. perhaps this kind of project may be better suited for 3rd year.
